Description

Deerfield’s Winemaking Club, Sonoma Private Reserve, released its first vintage. The Sonoma Private Reserve was created by Robert Rex to pass along his 47 years of winemaking knowledge to those who want to be winemakers and share his passion. This out-of-the-box blend (Robert’s specialty) has six varietals: Zinfandel, Malbec, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot. The 2014 Sonoma Cuvee was structured by taste after each component was barrel aged for 2 ½ years. The blend was returned to barrels for another 18 months for a total of 42 months of barrel aging. The result is a superbly structured wine that fills every corner of the palate, accentuating dark berry flavors. The tannins are soft, the alcohol and residual sugar in balance, and the finish long.
